Cutting Tools
SHOW EDGE
High-speed steels are often used for cutting tools such as drills, milling cutters or broaches, but also for cold forming tools – for example our homogeneous, ultra-clean PM steels labelled MICROCLEAN. These combine the required properties for high edge retention and high wear resistance, hot hardness and toughness in an optimum way. For our customers, this means guaranteed long tool life, lower set-up costs and reliable and reproducible production processes.
From industrial applications to DIY, cutting tools made from BÖHLER high-speed steel are the right choice. Applications include drilling, milling, threading, broaching and much more.
Special requirements for materials for the cutting industry include:
• Highest wear resistance, hardness, compressive strength at temperatures up to over 600°C
• Resistance against fracture and toughness
• Tools almost always need to be cooled and lubricated and require high thermal shock resistance
